机构简介:

The Kyoto Institute of Economic Research (KIER) was founded in April 1962 with the purpose of comprehensive research on industrial economies. Since then, KIER has been a leader in the field of economic research in Japan, with outstanding achievements on theoretical economics, applied economics and econometrics. KIER is internationally recognized as one of top-class research institutes of economics. Recently, KIER has also increased its emphasis on problem-solving and policy-oriented research in economics, and has received strong appreciation for its positive progress in policy assessment and policy recommendations.

The research in KIER is characterized by three key words: international, advanced and interdisciplinary. Our mission is to contribute to the development of economic research. Each research member of the institute is aiming to pioneer the international research front line, with the primary goal of leading the fields. The members are active in doing international joint research and building academic networks with major universities in the world. Many prominent researchers including Nobel laureates visited KIER for joint works with our members. The members have diverse backgrounds, not only economics but also science and engineering, and are actively doing interdisciplinary research in cooperation with researchers in humanities, social sciences, mathematics, physics, biology, and engineering among others.
